The 2010 South Florida Super Celebrity Fishing Classic

Miami Gardens, FL-On the morning of February 28, 2009, four young friends, all athletes, were brought together by their love of football, boating and fishing. They headed out for what they thought was going to be a fun day at sea. But several miles off the coast of Clearwater, Florida, things went terribly wrong, and their fishing trip quickly turned to tragedy.

The 2010 South Florida Super Celebrity Fishing Classic will honor William Bleakley, Marquis Cooper, Corey Smith and survivor, Nick Schuyler.

"These four young men shared a bond, on and off the football field," said Rodney Barreto, Chairman of the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee.  "This event is designed not only to honor them, but to also promote safe boating."
 Barreto, who is also Chairman of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission went on to say,"The response has been tremendous. We want people to come away from our event understanding the importance of safety at sea, and it's all for a worthy cause."

On Monday February 1st, 2010, during the week of Super Bowl XLIV, the 2010 South Florida Super Celebrity Fishing Classic will hold a banquet, auction and video tribute to these athletes at the International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame in Dania Beach, Florida.

This will be followed by a one-day fishing tournament held in Miami on Wednesday, February 3rd.

We want you to be part of this moving event that will celebrate these young athletes lives. The proceeds raised will go to the victim's families charity/foundation of their choice. The families and their representatives are all embracing this event as we embrace something these fine young men all loved, fishing.
